YOUTH PROGRAMS

Youth Aviation Education/Experience programming is one of our primary missions, and our experienced and professional staff take great pride in these programs. A number of the programs are funded by SSA’s non-profit arm, Flight Experience For Youth (FEFY), a 501(c)(3) organization. SSA is very fortunate to be able to offer these valuable and fun experiences at one of the most beautiful airports in the country.

SSA’s Youth Programs include:

  • Youth Soaring Camps - overnight summer camps for youths ages 13 through 18.
  • Line Crew Program - qualified students, typically ages 13 through 18, help run the flight operation under the supervision of a flight instructor, and earn credits toward instructional or solo glider flights. Read some of their essays about this program.
  • Vermont Technical College/Vermont Flight Academy (VTC/VFA) Day Camp – SSA partners with the VTC/VFA to provide a day of glider instruction.
