FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR
Sugarbush Soaring Association is seeking a professional Certified Flight Instructor-Glider (CFI-G) to join our team for the 2025 season.
Sugarbush Soaring is an active glider operation that specializes in high quality flight instruction. We have vibrant youth programs and a strong coalition of involved members and supporters. Our season is from mid-May until late October. Our operations include scenic flights for the public, soaring instruction, summer youth soaring camps and support for member flying.
We are looking for instructors (ideally dual qualified as towpilots) and staff that enjoy teaching and are good with young people. Sugarbush Soaring Youth Soaring Camps attract teenagers from all over and provide them with a unique opportunity to receive top quality instruction, explore a variety of aviation related topics, and enjoy other fun activities with other kids who share their interests. Our line crew, which is a key component of our operations, has also been helpful in bringing youth into the sport of soaring and aviation in general.
Candidates must be a FAA Certificated Flight Instructor, Glider (CFI-G) with glider teaching experience, have a passion for flying, and a desire to share that passion with our students and passengers. We work as a team to ensure our students, passengers and members are safe, have a great experience and have fun. We have high standards; safety is our top priority and are looking for someone that feels the same way.
The Warren-Sugarbush Airport, 0B7, is known as an excellent, technical soaring site, with a diversity of mountain flying/wave, thermals and ridge flying opportunities. Visiting pilots have said that this is, “among the most beautiful airports that they’ve ever seen“.
This is a perfect summer position for someone who wants to get out of the heat of the south in the summer. The Mad River Valley (MRV) is a great place to live, work and play. The New York Times has called the Mad River Valley, “Quintessential Vermont”.
It is a vibrant community with much to offer, including hiking, biking, kayaking, and camping. It is within an hour of Burlington, which is on Lake Champlain, and has beaches, boating, restaurants, entertainment, and an international airport. Vermont is known for its great food, cheese, craft beer, and art scenes. There is magic in the MRV and many people fall in love with the year-round activities.
This is full-time seasonal position with flight schedules determined by operational needs and may include weekend work. Pay commesurate with experience and housing accommodations available based on the successful candidate's need.
